When Is the Best Time of Year to Buy a Lexus in BC?

Model-year timing, monthly incentives and BC tax changes that can affect when you buy or lease a Lexus in British Columbia. Practical guidance from Frank Qian.

One of the most common questions I hear is some version of “Should I wait?” The honest answer is that timing can matter, but usually less than choosing the right vehicle and the right way to pay for it.

Here are the timing factors that are real and verifiable in BC.

1. Model-Year Changeovers

New model years don’t all arrive at once. For example, Lexus Canada announced the 2026 TX and the 2026 RX in November 2025. When a new model year arrives, the outgoing model year may remain in stock for a period, and pricing or incentives on the outgoing year can differ. The trade-off is that you may give up updates introduced in the new model year.

2. Monthly Lexus Incentives

Lexus Canada publishes offers that run for set windows. As one example, lexus.ca listed a $1,500 customer incentive on select 2026 NX 450h+ packages for vehicles purchased or leased, registered and delivered between March 3 and March 31, 2026. Offers like this change regularly and vary by model, so it’s worth checking the current offers page for the specific vehicle you want.

3. BC PST Rates for Plug-in Hybrids

In BC, approved plug-in hybrids and battery-electric vehicles qualify as zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) for PST purposes, which gives them higher price thresholds before the PST rate steps up. Regular self-charging hybrids are not considered ZEVs for this purpose.

According to the Province of BC, these ZEV thresholds are in effect until February 22, 2027, after which they are scheduled to return to the standard rates.

4. Rebate Programs

The CleanBC Go Electric passenger vehicle rebate is currently paused, and the federal iZEV program closed on March 31, 2025.

5. Your Own Timing Matters More

Lease maturity dates, trade-in condition and mileage, and when you actually need the vehicle often matter more than the calendar. If your current lease ends in a few months, planning ahead gives you more choice of colours and packages.
